Hey there Lil’ Red Riding Hood

The Bargain Queen posted up a nifty hooded red coat from DKNY. While I’d love a full fairytale hooded red wool cape (must add that to my to-make list!), what’s so nice about this is that it only hints at the storybook so remains perfectly respectable and ever so wearable. It’s the sort of thing that brightens not only your winter day but I’d hope, anyone else with imagination who might happen to chance upon you. Would definitely snatch it up if it were in my size and they would deliver to Australia. :-(

The thought of hoods couldn’t help but remind me of the soooo wonderful Bonds hoodie ad (by The Campaign Palace) with Sarah O’Hare/Murdoch (can’t remember which she was when they made it) with Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs’ “Lil’ Red Riding Hood“.

The unadulterated song…

And a cover by Bowling for Soup set to anime!

And YouTuber Brooke’s really rather rather good version (she has a website):

I’m a huge fan of subtle fairy tale influences. At my friends birthday party, I wore a red clingy blouse with ruching up the front and sleeves and ties at the end of the sleeves, with a black lacy skirt covered in black roses, black high heels, and a black clutch purse with cut out white daisies. Then I wore my hair down and dark, and wore dark red lipstick. It was very snow white, but I do believe the only one to actively notice was a girl I met there that was a fashion major — and she loved it :)

I promise I’m going to try harder to find some bargains that ship worldwide. We definitely value are non-U.S. readers (especially seeing how I’m the only U.S. person on the team). I hope we can get a link on the site to all the “ships worldwide bargains”. I’ve suggested something like that to Sara already, but unfortunately she’s not back to work yet. In the meantime, if you see enough things you really want, you might consider a service like the ones mentioned here: http://fashion.thebargainqueen.com/2006/09/how-to-buy-from-the-us/. Maybe there are some now that have better rates.

I love how Brooke feels she has to disclaim: ” I’m not gay”, because she didn’t change the lyrics from “girl” to “boy”. :D

Meg, that Snow White sounds inspired!

It’s a pity more US companies don’t ship internationally. I love the Target Isaac Mizrahi dress you featured but no delivery to Australia sniff sniff. Still it’s good for ideas (and kinder on the purse – no temptation!) for things to make.

Yes, I’ve been thinking about getting a US mailbox service and if you keep posting tasty cheap clothes, I might have to get one. :-)

I’ve been bugging Amazon about adding a feature to allow people to search for items based on where they ship to, but alas, nothing yet. I do make special note of international shippers, though.

You might have to get the service because there are a lot of yummies waiting to be published ;) And you’re in luck since the value of the dollar is down (bad news for me, though).
